Course DETAILS
The VCE VET Dance program at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance offers school-aged students the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised vocational qualification in dance while undertaking their VCE studies. Delivered in partnership with COSAMP (RTO 41549), the two-year program combines practical training, performance experience, and theoretical studies in a professional studio environment. Students work with experienced industry practitioners to develop skills in various dance styles, performance preparation, and industry knowledge, gaining the confidence and expertise needed to pursue further education or employment in the performing arts sector.
On completion, students may achieve:
Certificate II in Dance (CUA20120) in full
Selected units towards Certificate III in Dance (CUA30120)
Graduates of VCE VET Dance at MOD will have a strong foundation for further study, including direct pathways into our Full-Time Diploma of Dance programs.
Course Objective
Our main goal is to equip secondary school students with high-level technical, theoretical, and performance skills in dance, while fostering creativity, discipline, and industry readiness for further training or careers in the performing arts.
Who is eligible for VCE VET Dance?
VCE VET Dance is primarily designed for students in Years 10, 11, and 12, with prior dance training and knowledge considered an advantage. Entry into the course is by audition, which can be completed online or in person. All applicants must also complete an application form and attend an interview with the VCE Coordinator at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance.
Students do not need to be enrolled in the Ministry’s Junior School to be eligible for the program. External students are strongly encouraged to continue their training at their local dance schools to ensure consistent development and optimal progress in their dance studies.
As part of our partnership initiatives, current and former performers from Wakakirri and the Victorian State Schools Spectacular are warmly invited to apply.
VCE VET Dance ATAR Score contribution
One of the most exciting aspects of VCE VET Dance is that it’s one of the few vocational qualifications that can count towards your Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR).
While the first year of the program is not scored, the second year is scored and can contribute directly to your ATAR.
So, if dance and performance are your passion, your achievements in this program can help boost your overall ATAR—bringing you one step closer to pursuing tertiary training in the arts!
