Paul is one of the most innovative teachers and choreographers in Australia. He has extensive experience teaching and performing around the world, with a career spanning over a decade.
He spent four years touring with 42nd street which took him to all major Australian cities and Auckland N.Z. During this time he met Dein Perry and together with Ben Read, Chris Horsey, Drew Anthony, Sheldon Perry, who all later participated in a workshop and video together which was broadcast on the ABC. This later evolved into the basis for David Atkins, Hot Shoe Shuffle.
Paul joined the cast of Tap Dogs in 1995,which he performed all over Australia, N.Z, India, China, Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea. Paul understudied the lead role and took over the role towards the end of the tour. An original cast member of Dein Perry s Steel City, Paul was dance captain and performed the show around Australia. He then went on to make his American debut at Radio City Music Hall on Broadway in New York City.
In 1999 Paul toured with the English company of Tap Dogs which saw him travelling to England, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Switzerland and Austria.
In 2005, Paul was part of the inaugural Melbourne International Tap Festival where he both performed in shows "United We're Strong" and taught workshops at all levels. He followed this up with the 2nd M.I.T.F. and choreographed and performed in the Melbourne Awards the following year. One of the things he enjoys the most is teaching and choreographing for his students. As a teacher, Paul has the ability to give his students a new way of approaching a step or combination which help improve their technique. He also appreciates what different students have to offer and encourages individuality and personal style.
Paul is currently teaching all around Melbourne and rewriting the A.T.O.D. tap syllabus (Australian Teachers of Dance) and creating a new street tap syllabus for them. Paul looks forward to continuing to explore new areas of tap and nurturing the awesome talent around him.
