Jackie Sherren-Scott

Jackie has 30 years of extensive performance experience in all genres throughout Australia, London and New York. Jackie has spent most of her career as an educator teaching for 18 years in many institutions across the world including schools, community groups, full time courses and universities. Jackie holds a Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Honours in dance all from Deakin University. Jackie was awarded the Vice Chancellors Award from Deakin University in 2000 for her performance work ‘Utopia’ which was performed by her own independent dance company. The company went on to develop other highly acclaimed works including ‘Shaken not Stirred’ and ‘Let me Dance’ plus Melt which showcased at Sadler’s Wells Theatre followed by the Place, London. Her choreography is exciting, ground breaking and accessible, producing highly acclaimed works in contemporary, ballet, hip hop and other dance styles.
 
Jackie has recently returned from 5 successful years in the UK, choreographing and dancing for performances in the West End, Sadler's Wells, the BBC and the Place. Her work incorporated a diverse range of demographics, including youth dance, young people with behavioural problems/mental & physical disabilities and professional dancers from all over the World. Jackie developed and directed one of London's premier youth dance crews, which had an intense media following throughout the development and growth of the crew. She has had extensive television experience from a young age both in front of and behind the camera in Australia and overseas.

Her performance, choreographic and educational experience is vast working with many independent choreographers and companies on projects including Dance Theatre of Harlem, The Ballet Boys, Cando Co, Push, Tommy the Clown, Mark Morris Dance Company, Stephen Pelton, Dianne Reid, Bang Dance and Fright Theatre. Jackie produced 3 curtain raisers for opening night of Mathew Bourne’s works in London; the Nutcracker, Edwards Scissor Hands and Swan Lake.

Jackie’s choreographic work has been seen at 3 consecutive Breakin Conventions at Sadlers Wells Theatre, London alongside world famous hip hop artists including the Electric Boogaloos (USA), Wanted Posse (France), Project Soul (Korea), Frank II Louise (France) and Rennie Harris (USA).
 
Jackie started her business career early in 1997 for EDG (Entertainment Development Group). Through this company Jackie worked as the Training & Development Manager and was involved in the development and opening of six EDG sites including travelling to New York open two sites in Times Square. Jackie's experience includes the position of Venue Manager, Sales and Marketing Manager and Functions and Events Manager. Most recently as the Training manager for Strike Bowling Bar, she has been involved in the opening and ongoing support of 7 sites nationally.

As the Director of Dance and Operations at the Ministry and known by all as ‘Mamma Ministry’, Jackie has the opportunity to work across all of her passions including teaching, choreography and producing as well as business and management. Jackie is extremely passionate about the development of the entertainment industry and raising young people to be positive and successful individuals within it. She works with a supportive and nurturing outlook and hopes to be a positive and loving influence on her staff, teachers and students.
